Helping Hand.....Meet the Volunteers helping make a difference 1 in 3 of all deaths in the UK is caused by diseases of the heart and circulatory system, according to latest figures from the British Heart Foundation. Common causes include an unhealthy diet high in fatty foods and a lack of exercise. However, this can be drastically reduced if the effects of healthy living are educated from an early age, according to Assistant Coach John Lavery of the Chester based professional basketball team, the Cheshire Jets.  Assistant Coach Lavery said; "Introducing children to a range of foods and presenting them with different sports is likely to encourage them to stay healthy as they enter adulthood. Alongside this, a healthy lifestyle helps build self- confidence and social interaction in adulthood which is really important in all aspects of life". It is suggested that children up to 18 years should spend around 60 minutes per day keeping fit. This aims to give children a healthy start in life and is one of the many reasons the Cheshire Jets set up their charity, the Jets Foundation. Each year the Jets dedicate their time to visiting schools around the country. Their goals are to work with children so that they understand the importance of healthy living during childhood through one of their highly enjoyable and motivating programmes, Hoops4Health. The Cheshire Jets are sponsored by Carlyle Finance, one of the leading independent motor finance organisations in the UK. Carlyle Finance is excited by the opportunity to support the Cheshire Jets and in particular, the Jets Foundation the Cheshire Jets registered charity. This is the second season the Jets have worked with local Cardiff primary schools and Carlyle Finance staff to deliver their Hoops4Health healthy living road show. Mark Standish, CEO of Carlyle Finance comments, "Within our team we have many dedicated employees who put in a lot of time and effort to support a range of charities. To continue to make a difference we were delighted to sponsor the Cheshire Jets and have the opportunity to work with local schools so we can help make a vast difference to our community, and communities all around the UK".
